From Africa to Australia, keeping the smiles of the Watoto Children’s Choir healthy

In 2005 Dr John Gooley embarked from our Upper Mt Gravatt dental practice on a combined medical and dental mission team to Kenya and Uganda.  The aim being to establish makeshift clinics in remote areas, for up to 2 to 5 days at a time, in order to tend to the dental needs of the local people.

The Watoto Children’s Choir is an African children’s choir based in Kampala Uganda. Watoto translates to “Children” in the Swahili language and the group uses song and dance to raise awareness about orphaned and vulnerable children in Africa.

The Watoto Children’s Choir tours internationally and when they come to Australia the choir is always invited to make a stop at Family Dental Excellence. When the choir visits it gives our dental professionals a chance to perform a general check-up for the children, as well as address any dental concerns, in order to keep the beautiful smiles of the The Watoto Children’s Choir healthy.
